About Me

Welcome to our blog! We are working toward retiring to our property in Georgia someday. We had hoped we would already be there, but the state of the economy has postponed our plans temporarily. We will be posting pictures of our family, our pets, and our progress towards moving to Georgia. We invite you to share our adventures and your blog with us. David and Barbara

New Sons of Liberty website and "Brush-fires of the Mind" album live today!

As many of you know, my son-in-law, Jon Schaffer, is the guitarist and creator of the heavy metal band, Iced Earth. Jon is a REAL AMERICAN patriot and conservative thinker who has studied history for years and is very concerned about the direction of our country.

As a result, he has written and recorded a new album and created a new website as discussed below. This is heavy metal music that gets to the heart of our cause. Please take time to go to this new site and download this music, then listen while you read the lyrics that are provided on his new site. Enjoy, and stay strong!

Article from Blabbermouth.net: The web site for ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman Jon Schaffer's new project/solo album called SONS OF LIBERTY has been launched at this location. On the web site, visitors are able to download and listen to the debut LP, "Brush-fires of the Mind", for free. You can now also purchase a high-resolution version of the album for only $7.99 via PayPal.

"My desire is for SONS OF LIBERTY to become part of a much larger movement that is happening around the world," Schaffer said in a statement. "This new website will be a think-tank containing lots of interesting web links, book and movie recommendations, and much more. This will be an ongoing process, so check back often." He added, "This is about the message and not the messenger. This is a project that I encourage you to copy and share with your friends. "I care very much about what is happening in our world. We've been steamrolling down this road for a long time, so I assure you this is not a politically biased message. I'm hoping to set a few brush-fires in the minds of the listeners with this one. So please, check it out, do the research and get involved!

"Looking forward to getting your responses on this new chapter in my life!"

Family Reunion and Prayers Answered

I have just added my family picture that was taken Wednesday night, Dec. 2, 2009, at Carrabbas in Temple Terrace. This has been a dream of mine for years to finally have everyone in the same place at the same time to take this picture. God has truly blessed my life with beautiful and wonderful children, grand-children, and great-grand children. With so many things happening in our country right now and such uncertainty about the future, we are working to ensure that America's liberty and freedom are preserved for our kids. I strongly urge everyone to get involved. Join a 9-12 Group, a Tea Party group, or other like-minded group and do what you can to make sure we get rid of the corruption in Washington and elect honest, conservative leaders that will protect our Constitution and our people. We have so much to be thankful for living in the greatest and most blessed country on the planet. We have a duty to protect what our ancestors fought and died for.

September Georgia Vacation and Washington March

We spent our vacation at our property in Rentz and make progress every time we go up there. We had more area around the pond cleared out by our new friends, Debbie and Wayne, and they will clear even more brush so we can complete building the fence that encompasses the "animal" pasture during our next trip. Debbie and Wayne also have a really pretty Fifth Wheel they are selling. David and I fell in love with it and are trying to figure out how we can buy it.

We came home early on Thursday, so I could fly up to Washington DC on Friday, 9-11-09, for the Taxpayer Protest March to the Capitol on Saturday. I cannot adequately express my pride in our fellow Americans and renewed hope that we can save the America we all grew up in. I have never seen so many people in one place in my life and according to the newest estimates of participants, it looks like around 1.7 million concerned Americans participated. We marched from the Feedom Mall at 13th and Pennsylvania Avenue to the steps of the Capitol. All I could see no matter what direction I looked in was a sea on people.

The crowd was excited, courteous, and did NOT leave a mess to be cleaned up. In fact, the company hired to clean up after the Rally said they felt bad accepting money because we had left the streets and grounds so clean. The garbage cans were full and overflowing because of the massive crowd but there was no litter left scattered around.

I would not have missed this march for anything! Pray for our country. We have a long way to go to restore our freedoms and liberty.

July 4th Tea Party and Trip to Georgia

Our trip to Rentz over the July 4th weekend was super! We have had more clearing done down by the pond and it looks like a park area now. Really pretty! We are still waiting for the economy to pick up but if David can find a job in Georgia, he will go ahead and move up while I stay here in Plant City for awhile until we can build a home there.

One really exciting thing we did on this trip was to attend a Tea Party in Eastman, GA. It was a very patriotic experience and I would urge everyone that has not attended one, to do so. Our country is in so much trouble and unless, we the people, stand up, we are doomed. We need prayer, repentance, and reaching out to our elected officials with our concerns and issues.

I continually write and call my Congressmen and Senators and they do respond. We need to keep the pressure on just as the government is overwhelming us with all of their ill advised programs and bills to turn us into a Socialist country. We cannot let that happen. If it does, there will be no going back and our children and grandchildren will be slaves to the government trying to pay off this massive debt. This is just not acceptable.

There will be a march on Washington on 9-12-09 of this year and I am looking into to attending.

Please pray for our country and let your voices be heard. I also strongly recommend you read two books. The first is "Common Sense" by Glenn Beck. This is for everyone regardless of political party affilitation. It shows how far off course our country is and what we need to do to bring it back to the nation our Founding Fathers established. I also recommend "The 5000 Year Leap." This is a wonderful history of the 28 priniciples that this country was founded on and why we need to return to those principles.

March trip to Georgia

We spent several days on our property in Rentz last week. We attended the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 21 and spent time with our friends from Brandon that now live in Dublin, Georgia. Dublin's history is rich in Irish history so St. Patrick's Day is a month long event with all kinds of activities. We were successful in getting our satellite dish set up so we can watch television now while we are in Rentz. The television reception is really bad since we are in the woods, so having satellite is great. We now have eletricity, water, and satellite tv. The only thing we need now is a new house! We were going over to visit a neighbor Sunday evening,March 22 and a large deer crossed in front of us in our driveway. We saw lots of turkeys and mallard ducks too. We really love it in Georgia and hope we can move there once the economy turns around.

Oscar's float got first place in the Strawberry Festival Parade

I am so happy to report that my grandson-in-law (Oscar)’s float won first place in the Strawberry Festival parade today. Pictures are on this blog. My son, Bobby, built the float on behalf of the company Oscar and Steve own, S & O Greenworks. I’m not sure any of you know, but my son, Bobby, (Becca’s dad), is a very good artist, and the gentleman, Steve, that designs S & O’s company logo and artwork, put their creativity together and came up with a winning float. It was the float that looked like a tank, listed fallen soldier’s names on the back, was accompanied by the three marines that walked behind it, and was a tribute to our troops. If you were at the parade, hope you remember which one it was.

February happenings

This has been a busy month. We had both the master bathroom and the half bath remoldeled but we are still waiting for the glass shower doors which we expect to be installed any day now. The master bath is gorgeous and the half bath looks really great. We are also painting the inside of the house since we painted the outside of the house last spring and had the pool and deck completely resurfaced. Every improvement we make adds some value to the house as well as making it a nicer place to live while we wait for the real estate market to improve.

Steve had Timmy's birthday party last Saturday at a local park and Lisa will host another party for him tomorrow at MacDonald's. So he lucked out with two birthday parties this year.

Becca, Oscar, and Bobby are busy working on Oscar's company float for the Strawberry Festival. I have included some pictures. It really is an awesome float. I hope they win an award.

A week of surprises

This was a week of surprises. I unexpectedly received a call from my nephew, Chris, whom I had not seen in about 14 years since he lives in Utah. He was in Orlando, Florida, visiting with his wife and 6 children and wanted to come visit us. I was thrilled and so glad to see him and his beautiful family. We had a great visit and hope to see them again real soon.

A few days later, I received a call from my son, who I had been estranged from for a couple of years and after a long talk, we worked out our issues and have put the past behind us. This is such a relief to me. I love my children so much and feel like we have begun to put the family back together again. He has a beautiful son of his own and everyone wants him to feel secure and happy in a loving family. God is good:)
